3D printing across Catalonia: Girona, Tarragona, Lleida and the rest
How to order printed parts from outside Barcelona without losing days: real lead times by province, shipping cost, and what to settle before ordering.
Outside the Barcelona area the supply of 3D printing thins out fast. In Girona, Tarragona, Lleida or the inland comarques there are good workshops, but few, and many are one person with two machines: if they are busy, you are waiting. Ordering from Barcelona adds a day of transit and about seven euros, and removes that uncertainty in exchange.
The real lead time, in parts
The total is two things added together: production and transit. Production is the same wherever you live — five working days as standard, with faster options. Transit within Catalonia is one working day once the part leaves the workshop, sometimes two towards the Pyrenees or the Terra Alta. There is no guaranteed time slot in small villages, so if delivery is awkward, a pickup point is usually more reliable than an empty house mid-morning.
What to settle before ordering from a distance
When you cannot drop by the workshop to look at the part, every iteration costs a day. It is worth settling three things before hitting confirm.
- The critical dimensions. If something has to fit, say so on the order and flag it: checking beforehand is cheaper than reprinting afterwards.
- The material, based on where the part will live. In the Delta or on the Costa Brava, with sun and salt, PLA is not the answer. In an inland unit that freezes, neither is resin.
- Whether you will need more. If the design is already proven, order the quantity in one go: you share out the shipping and enter the volume discount from three units.

Is ordering from Barcelona better than a workshop in my comarca?
If the workshop in your comarca has capacity and the material you need, go with them: you save a day and the shipping. Ordering from Barcelona wins when you need a specific material or technology, when the local lead time does not reach, or when you want a firm price before handing over your details rather than waiting for a quote.
