A figurine is the opposite of a technical part: nobody measures its tolerances, but everybody looks at its face. What decides whether it looks right is resolution, where the support marks land, and whether the material holds a two-millimetre sword without snapping. That is why almost every figure we print goes in resin: 0.05 mm layers, or 0.025 mm for faces and miniatures, with a surface where the lines simply do not show.

Supports: where the marks go
Outstretched arms, capes, chins and wings are overhangs, and an overhang in resin needs supports. Each support leaves a tiny dot when it comes off. The configurator analyses your model and tells you whether it needs them and what they add to the price; we orient the figure so the dots land on the back and the base, not the face. With the premium clean-up finish they are sanded off one by one.
Before you upload the file
- The mesh must be closed. ZBrush or Blender sculpts sometimes carry loose overlapping pieces; merge them or export them separately.
- Minimum detail: 0.3 mm in resin and 0.8 mm in filament. A spear thinner than that prints, but breaks when touched.
- Check the scale. A "32 mm" miniature usually measures about 32 mm to the eyes, not to the tip of the helmet.
- If the file comes pre-supported (common with Patreon releases), say so in the order notes. If not, we add our own.
Characters and copyright
Characters from films, comics and games are protected even when a fan sculpted the model and it circulates for free. Printing a figure for your shelf from a file you have the right to use is one thing; making twenty to sell is another, and that one we do not do. Original characters, brand mascots and your own sculpts: no limits.
How much does it cost to 3D print a figurine?
It depends mostly on the volume of resin, and large figures are printed hollow, so they cost less than they look. A tabletop miniature costs very little, but the order minimum applies, so it pays to order several together. Resin or PLA for a figurine?
Resin for anything under about 20 cm or with fine detail: the difference on faces and hands is huge. PLA for large statues you will sand and paint, where sub-millimetre detail disappears under primer and the saving per cubic centimetre is large.
Do you print miniatures for Warhammer, D&D or other games?
Yes: 28, 32 and 54 mm miniatures in resin at 0.025 mm, from files you have the right to print (purchases from MyMiniFactory, Cults or Patreon, or your own sculpts). For personal use; we do not produce branded miniatures for resale.
Do you paint the figures?
We deliver them primed and painted in one colour with the "Primer + paint" finish, or sanded and ready to paint. We do not do multi-colour artistic painting: a figure primed in grey is the best starting point for your brushes.
Can you make a figure from a photo?
Printing needs a 3D model. Turning a photo or a drawing into a character is digital sculpting work, quoted separately: write to us with the images and the size you want.
